11. HRT has changed since the WHI report

Hormone Replacement Therapy these days is very different from what was used in the Women's Health Initiative time. Back in the past, estrogen was Premarin (Pregnant Mare Urine), which was close to natural estrogen, but not identical. Now a days, estrogen is a synthesized identical compound called Estradiol and is available in pill, patch, injection, cream and implant modalities.

When I started HRT, my PCP wanted a sign off from my Cardiologist, which he gave easily.
