I would say the female Navy captain would have a great legal case. The commanding officer who issued her orders to become a troop commander needs to come forward, imo, and defend the decision, possibly in a lawsuit deposition.

Supposedly they're not letting her be a SEAL troop commander because she's not a SEAL. I'm going to assume that someone will dig up a case of a previous (male) commander who was also not a SEAL. If it's always been SEALs who have been promoted to troop commander, I think she would have a weak case. Unfortunately, it would look like someone was bending "standard practice" to benefit her. That would actually play right into Hegseth's hands and be a setback for women in the military.

If there have been non-SEAL males who have been troop commanders, she's got an open-and-shut case, imo.
