There was a lot more going on than what appeared at the time. One of the reasons I kept digging into it was because it was very interesting, almost soap opera-ish.

I think Russia not getting the SS-20's onto the island played a bigger role in ending the Cold War than most people give it credit for. One of the reasons much of this wasn't reported at the time was because Reagan's advisors told him to keep his mouth shut and instead use diplomacy with Moscow.
