22. Very strange use of the Hatch Act
Sat Aug 2, 2025, 07:05 PM

First of all, more than ANY administration in my lifetime, practically everyone in the first Trump administration BLATANTLY violated the Hatch Act.

The Hatch Act says people working for the President can not do political election stuff. Now both of Obama's Secretaries of State, though both prominent people politically, did not attend the convention when they were secretaries. In 2020, SoS Pompeo appeared remotely at the convention from Jerusalem. Clear violation of the Hatch Act. While Obama Hud Secretary Castro was called out for appearing at a political event, none of the repeated, far more obvious Trump violations were ever acted on.

Now, if you look up the Hatch Act, the penalties are pretty weak.
