Competent opposition.
I live in the district. I'll never vote for Stefanik or any republican and never have, for decades. Stefanik is in trouble up here. These Trump policies are doing actual damage to her voters. She is nowhere to be found. Great opportunity for someone who aspires to be a leader to step into the void. I have no idea who is running against Stefanik.
But one can't embrace Harris and expect to get elected. But it shouldn't be hard at all to say my conscience would never to allow me to vote for a morally loose felon so of course I chose the opposition.
One can't be against firearms and hunting and expect to get elected. The last candidate simply couldn't figure out how to message that. Something simple like, I absolutely support the right to bear arms, to hunt, to put food on the table and I look forward to working with community members to protect our right to bear arms while also protecting our right to remain safe from gun violence.
One can't expect to get elected without understanding the economy of milk.
One can't expect to get elected while embracing any of the social wedge issues.
One can't expect to get elected without advocating for border control of some kind. Lie if need be for crying out loud.
And one can't expect to get elected without pandering to law enforcement, corrections and border patrol which could be done in any number of indirect ways.
Point is, a well prepared candidate can, and will, beat Stefanik. But I suppose it's gotta begin with introducing yourself to your potential constituents.
