(4,645 posts)14. When my former Psychiatrist (she left for another clinic)
had a colleague tell her that he thought it possible I may be on the autism spectrum, I did some reading on it. One article suggested, there seemed to be evidence that men who are significantly older than average when they father a child, maybe more likely to have a child on the autism spectrum than younger fathers. It also said may scientists believe there is a genetic factor at play.
My Dad was 54, and my Mom was 32 when they had me, so it would fit, if this study is accurate.
