4. There's a feral cat who "owns" my front porch.

He's been around for almost four years. I put food out for him every morning, which he expects and waits for, usually sleeping on a cushioned porch chair that has a heating pad for cold days. I also got him a little house that's heated, but he hangs out in there only when it's extremely cold, like below zero - otherwise he prefers the chair, where he can watch what's going on. The porch has a roof, so even in the summer he has a place to go when it's raining. When the weather is really bad he'll spend the whole day on the porch; otherwise, after he eats he washes up and then goes off to do cat stuff. Usually he's gone all day, but sometimes he'll nap on a chair on the deck at the back of the house, and if I'm outside gardening he'll come up to me and meow for food (there's another food dish on the deck, which he'll wait patiently near while I go inside for more food). I can get close to him but I can't pet him - he swats at me (without using claws) if I try. Last summer he disappeared for about a month and I was afraid something had happened to him, but one day he came back and returned to his old routine with no explanation. I don't know whether I'll ever tame him but he's welcome to live on my porch on his terms.
