a while as if there was another trip to the ER almost every week. I used to joke that I could find my way around the nearest hospital blindfolded, since I'd spent so many hours there, a lot of that time wandering around the hospital in the wee hours. In retrospect I probably could've listened to music then, but I wouldn't've been able to focus on it. And at home there really wasn't a good time for listening to music during the day, because I had to be able to hear if there was an emergency. I'd often be awake hours after she was asleep, so I'd sometimes catch up on music including new music then, but there was also writing/email to take care of, and I'd stop listening to music at times, take the headphones off, to make sure there wasn't any sort of emergency. So I wasn't going to pay much attention to a very brash young UK band with two squabbling brothers. Then by 1996, even with Oasis having done those triumphant concerts at Knebworth, I was interested in a different young British band, because of a friend, and hoping they might become more successful than Oasis (nope).

Even if we can spend a lot of time focused on music, it's impossible to keep up with all of it.
