I've always been a sort of hands-off yardperson. I might throw some seeds out there, but usually I just turn on the water and see what pops up!

The birds brought some mullein seeds a few years ago, those were huge! I've had the occasional sunflower seed from the birdseed get left behind to germinate. I let the grass grow natural, don't really cut it and let it re-seed itself.

Last couple yars since the cat isn't out as much, thye voles are having a field day. Got holes everywhere and they keep the vegetation nipped low. (bunnies too) I got some clover seed and a ton of wildflower native for CA for the side yard. Gonna let it go wild and see where it goes this year!
Can't do anything yet. Probably not till late May/early June. It just snowed another 6" yesterday! Besides, I like to give the bees and bugs time to hatch before messing up the eggs etc...
(and my son is a flake so we'll see how soon he comes to rake! LOL)
