Don't get me wrong, there's room for him but he just wants the spot beneath my head.

Gryff is just an extremely affectionate boy. It's not enough to cuddle next to me. He has to be touching me. Sometimes it's his paw, sometimes it's his head, sometimes it is his entire body. He's always the first of the kid cats to greet visitors. I have a cousin who is not, at all, a fan of cats. The last time he was here he admitted that his attitude has changed because my kid cats act more like dogs.
