(33,316 posts)31. ''For dogs, love isn't about perfection.''
A dog doesnt want a flawless human; it wants one whos there...They dont ask you to be strong all the time. They just ask you to be around. Dogs love humans even when we struggle to love ourselves. They look at us with admiration even when we cant admire ourselves. They teach us empathy when were too tired to care, and patience when life feels unfair.
Would dogs still love us if they knew all our flaws? Yes. Because they already do. Theyve seen the imperfect parts we try to hide from the world and chose to love us anyway. Thats not just affection, thats grace.

OP
I have a tendency geared toward perfectionism. Which can also be a negative.

I can certainly relate to it being difficult without our planetary neighbors.

I've been there, too, my friend. It's been over 2 years for me, but I still hurt when I think of my pup

Mourning a loved animal is so very, very hard. Give yourself as much time as you need.

The more you loved your dog and the more your dog loved you the more it will hurt.

I understand how you feel. Still mourning my GSD who disappeared when I was 11.
